Blessings and Fearless Changes

While walking the dogs the other night, I noticed a yellow-and-black butterfly. I thought how odd it was to see a butterfly flying at night. The next morning, while looking out my bedroom window contemplating the start of a new day, I saw a yellow-and-black butterfly flutter by.

I took the butterfly’s appearances as a sign that it was a totem animal (which in this case happened to be an insect) offering me its archetype energy and bringing me forewarning of the changes to come. Butterflies symbolize transformation…inevitable change that should be taken with joy and non-resistance.

Earlier today, during a shamanic healing that I was performing for a client, an ascended master gave this message, “A blessing is always a change. It takes courage to face change and realize that it is for your best good. Take this time to meditate and reflect on your spiritual path. You are never alone – I am always with you.” I know this message was for both the client and me.

The totem animal guidance was especially interesting to me at this time, because 1 1/2 weeks ago, I received a blessing from an angel. During the night, I was awakened by an intense spiritual connection. I then saw an angel, who spoke these words, “You have been given insight.” I thought, “How wonderful!” and then fell asleep.

The angel’s appearance was special for two reasons. Although, angels are almost always a part of my shamanic healings by offering protection and bringing in the Divine light, I had never had one speak to me. Additionally, the angel’s appearance and message made me realize that I am ready to take another step in my spiritual journey.

I do not know how the upcoming changes will impact me. But, I have faith that the changes will be for my highest good. I will accept the changes with as much grace and joy that I can, and trust in the Divine’s will.

As the ascended master said, “A blessing is always a change.”

Note: After this posting, I began to see yellow-and-black butterflies everywhere! But, today, while driving away from home, I saw a yellow-and-black butterfly fighting with a purple-and-black butterfly. Whether they were really fighting or mating wasn’t important. What was important was the insight that came to me. These butterflies represented the fight within myself, which has allowed fear to enter instead of knowing that I have nothing to fear. Lately, I had performed several spirit depossessions, and the fear that the people bring with them is often contagious. I have had to refocus my mind on the truth that dark forces have no power except that which we give them.

As I traveled down the road, I kept a watchful eye for the yellow-and-black butterflies, since I had a premonition that I would hit one. A few minutes later, I saw the butterfly flying in front of me. I slowed down, but still hit it.

I pulled over at the next street and looked at the front of my vehicle. The butterfly was on my radiator but still moving his wings. I decided he was being held by the force of the fan and shut off the car. When I went back to check on him, he was gone! I looked everywhere, and even opened the hood, but the butterfly was nowhere to be found.

I gave up looking for him and got back in the vehicle, when I saw the butterfly fly away! Triumph! But only because when adversary hit, I responded in a loving way. If I had given up and kept driving after hitting him, the butterfly would have perished.

The force of the fan symbolized the power that I had given to the dark forces, which when shut off, allowed the butterfly to be free.

This power animal was showing me that the fears I felt, are tests that can be overcome with faith and love.

Missed Opportunities

The other day, I was re-listening to a CD of a channeled reading from five years ago. Channelings are where a person agrees to let a spirit talk through them. This channeler had been working with the same enlightened spirit for years.

During the session, the channeler kept stating over and over, “You are a healer.” I would answer him, but never to agree. It went something like this:

Channeler: You are a healer.
ME: Maybe I should do skin care. That’s a form of healing.

Channeler: You are a healer.
ME: Maybe I should see how this graphic design career goes. It pays well.

Channeler: You are a healer.
ME: Maybe I should consider a new career.

Channeler: You are a healer.
ME: How can anyone make a living as a healer?
Channeler: If you can heal people. What wouldn’t they pay!

The spirit was patient with me, but no matter what was said, I couldn’t hear it. I had created my own un-reality. I wished I had listened with the mind set that I have now (youth is wasted on the young and foolish!). But, as I listened now, I also felt cautioned against possible blockages I might have in place now. What was I overlooking? What opportunities am I missing now? Am I holding myself back?

I had missed out on many productive years because I didn’t believe it was possible for me to have what I wanted. I now know that we are all glorious and our potential is unlimited!

Are you missing out on your potential? Ask yourself:
Have you settled for ‘Plan B’ in your life?
Have you set limitations on what is possible?
Has fear of what others might think prevented you from trying to achieve your dream?
Have you convinced yourself that you don’t have the money or time to do what you really want to do?
Do you keep waiting for the perfect time (after the kids are grown, after I have enough money in the bank, etc.)?

Don’t wait any longer! This world will be heaven when we all live up to our potential!

Blessed journeys!

Shamanism vs. “A Course in Miracles”

I read A Course in Miracles (ACIM) book a year ago in August, because I wanted to compare the beliefs in this book against shamanism. The writings were channeled by Helen Schucman and put into words by William Thetford, both professors at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. The channeling was a strange occurrence to have happened to an atheist professor who had never practiced metaphysical activities.

Last August, my family and I were about to take a two week road trip from Florida to Michigan to visit family, and I knew I would have a lot of time to read. My father had given me the A Course in Miracles book several years earlier, but I had only read the first page to where it stated, “All miracles mean life, and God is the Giver of life…” when I saw the word God I had stopped reading. The book had sat in my bookshelf ever since. But I had changed my viewpoint on God since then, although not religion. I wanted to read A Course in Miracles to see how it claimed miracles occurred and whether it was a different thought process than shamanic healing.

The ACIM book is written in a biblical style and is difficult to read. To be able to read as much as possible and utilize my time on the road, I would read a paragraph or page at a time and set it aside for a few minutes. Once the words sunk in, I would resume reading. In the several days it took to reach Michigan, a week visiting family, and the travel back to Florida, I managed to read the entire book except for the daily lessons.

I was surprised that I could not find anything in A Course in Miracles that contradicted shamanism. In fact, it added valuable insight into how shamanic healing occurs. ACIM talks of how there are teachers of teachers (teachers in spirit form) such as Jesus and others. In shamanism, the others would be called spirit guides. In a religious context, they might be called saints, angels and the Holy Spirit. In my shamanic journeys, I work with spirit guides, Jesus and angels, as well as nature spirits, ancestors, and animal totems.

ACIM talks of how miracles alter space and time to undo the perception of illness. I have seen for myself how a past life healing can cut the karmic ties between a past and present life. And, a soul retrieval can release the negative effects of a past trauma through acknowledgement and forgiveness.

Shamanism is the oldest known spiritual practice and has endured because it follows truths that have stood the span of time. The book, A Course in Miracles, although a much more recent revelation, offers ancient truths and is a perfect companion to my shamanic practice.
