My novella Dreams of Heaven releases today.
The idea for this story came to me in a vivid dream where Jesus Christ appeared and showed me four scenes and nothing else. When I woke up, I knew I would write this story, but I had no idea how the scenes would connect or how the story would unfold. Each writing session involved me sitting quietly, listening to the inspiration, and letting the words flow.
Some may wonder why Jesus is in my story since I practice Native American spirituality. But a few years into my practice, Jesus appeared during a shamanic journey and has been with me, and a part of my healings, ever since. Many associate Jesus with Christianity, but, in this story, religion and dogma have been left by the wayside.
In Dreams of Heaven, a shamanic and mystical Jesus leads the main character, Savannah Watson, who is haunted by a dream, through her fears. They have Socratic dialogues as they walk along the beach and visit the grocery store—answering some of life’s toughest questions.
