Spirit possession affects many people. I have performed successful spirit depossessions, but I wanted know the cause of the spirit possession. For guidance, I read the “A Course in Miracles” URtext Manuscripts, pages 24-25, to receive the following insights on why spirit possession occurs.
Below are the divine thoughts that came to me while reading:
Prolonged separateness from the divine Spirit creates scarcity, which after a time leads to depression, anger and/or sexual dysfunction. Prolonged scarcity can lead to different outward manifestations such as spirit possession and addictions. With spirit possession, a person is trying to replace their connection to the divine Spirit with a spirit entity.
Being possessed by spirit entity is a connection to a spirit with human attributes, and since it has human attributes, it is often viewed as evil.
When you strengthen your connection to the divine Spirit, you diminish the effects of the spirit entity. The divine Spirit will fill the mind with love and the sense of scarcity is replaced by fulfillment.
It can be difficult to remove a spirit entity, not because the spirit entity is too powerful, but because the need to connect to the divine Spirit is strong – although in the case of a spirit possession the connection is misplaced.
