We can look at blaming others, but the real healing takes place when we learn to forgive others for their 'transgressions' against us. It's then that we heal OURSELVES and are able to move on.

As someone who believes that this life is an illusion – a dream – I try not to focus on a transgression other than to correct my path and move away from the mistake and release it – knowing that it 'never' happened. It is tough path to try and follow and there are days when I fail, but then I pick myself up and try again.

Soul retrieval is truly about forgiveness and releasing the past. This is a healing that would truly benefit your friend, if she is ready to let go.

Hello Shaman Elizabeth, great blog, I really like the breath of information you cover as it closely mirrors my own interests.

Since you have a woman's perspective, and this blog is probably frequently read by women, I feel the need to speak my truth in regards to soul retrieval type work, shamanistic recapitulation, and specifically, how we choose our shaman.

My friend was interested in soul retrieval and she was really into the writings of Carlos Castaneda. She was looking for a shaman who could help her regain the power that she had lost through a lifetime of abuse at the hands of men, which had left many very deep wounds, and which was a cycle that was very problematic for her to break on her own.

She found the works of Victor Sanchez and his Toltec recapitulation, which he claims to have learned from the descendants of the Toltecs, the Wirrarika tribe, which he claims live in a secret location in central Mexico. Anyway, not only did he compromise the quality of her recapitulation by prioritizing his own agenda, he actually used her weaknesses, wounds, and vulnerabilities, which she had shown him in hope of healing, as a blueprint to groom and then sexually exploit and degrade her. Needless to say, rather than breaking the cycle and starting a new paradigm, this only further entrenched her. She is just trying to put it behind her, and actually thinks this was her fault (part of the shame game that Victor Sanchez, like other abusers of power, seems to favor) but I can't stand by and let this happen to other women who are looking to get their souls or power back, so I have started this blog to "out" the guy: http://victorsanchezexposed.wordpress.com/

Please, women, be warned about working with Victor Sanchez, and if you are attractive and have a history of trauma and abuse at the hands of men, then be very cautious about fully vetting any male shaman or spiritual teacher. I strongly encourage women to work with other women, both because they are on the same energetic wavelength and because of the obvious safer environment.

Keep up the good work!
